AROUND KONGAD: In and around the town of Kongad there are famous interesting places. The Malampuzha Gardens and its connected Theme Park known as " FANTASY PARK" is only 20 Km drive from Kongad. The famous Tippu Sultan Fort at Palghat City, the Indira Gandhi Stadium, The Palghat Rifle Club, "THE BLACK THUNDER", Water Theme Park is equal drive away distance from Kongad City. OTHER NEAR AROUND LAND MARKS: The town of Kongad is very ancient in the district of Palghat in the olden days and now enjoys the very best and one of the modern town in the Palghat Dist. The near around other landmarks are Ezhakkad B Grade Reading Room and Library of Kerala Grandha Shala Sangham at Ezhakkad (Founder & Secretary is Mr. K.P.K. Govindan, Retd. Railway Official of the South Central Railway network of Secundarabad- Vijayawada sector, A.P., India). Local festivals like Kunnapulli Kaavu Vishu vela, Mancherikkavu Kummati and Thirumaanthan Kunnu Pooram[see photo gallery page ] festivals are few of them to name among other festivals. The personal collection of elephants of an individual at Mangalamkunnu, near Cherplassery (about 17 elephants) is about 1/2 hour drive away from Kongad and is really worth watching. KONGAD JUNIOR CHAMBER: Kongad Junior Chamber is affiliated to Indian Junior Chamber, consisting of various member teams under the President. The activities of the Chamber includes various development plans within Kongad town, identifying and organising seminars for individual development every year. The Chamber honors individuals in different disciplines for their achievements every year . INTERNET AND E-MAIL AWARENESS CAMP:
Recently on the 16th of November 1999, an awareness camp for the latest INTERNET & E-mail usage facility was conducted at Bhagavathy Kalyanamandapam , Kongad under the guidance of Sri. K.G.SREENIVASAN from Dubai, U.A.E. The Camp was inaugurated by Sri. T.K.Raveendran, former Vice-Chancellor of University of Calicut with an audience of 200 people from various parts of Kongad. KONGAD website [ this site ] was officially inaugurated by Sri. V.U.Sreekumar, Sr.Manager, Canara Bank, Kongad. The camp was organised jointly by KONGAD JUNIOR CHAMBER and ALIANCE COMPUTERS , in association with Horizon Systems & solutions from Palakkad & Canara Bank,Kongad. Media agencies like,MATHRUBHUMI, MANORAMA & MAADHAYAMAM were reported about the camp over the following days. [See photo of the camp in photo gallery page on this site ] RIFFLE PRACTICE & HAM RADIO: Many individuals of Kongad are the members of the Palghat Riffle Club, remarkably Mr. C.M. Suresh Kumar, A Grade marksman in riffle shooting in South India. He is also a member of Amateur Radio Club and owns his own Ham radio account. FAMOUS POET NEAR KONGAD:
Sri. C.G.Parassery of, Kongad ia s leading poet from this area and had developed various poems in malayalam and his cassette released recently called " GANDHI BAZAAR" is one of the best selections. The poem titled " radhamadhavam " is one of the best of it. His address is SREE LASITH,PARASSERY P.O., KONGAD, AGED 43, and basically an school teacher at U.P. School, Parassery, Kongad.
